How DrinkCheck works
DrinkCheck is a test strip for beverages. Learn what to check when using a test, reading a result and understanding its limitations.
01 / Using the test
Step by step.
Open the packaging
Check the expiry date and storage guidance. Open the packaging and remove the test strip. Read the accompanying instructions before applying a sample.
Apply a sample
Apply a sample of your drink to the marked reaction fields. Do not fully immerse the test strip in the drink. Use the number of drops specified on your packaging or in its accompanying instructions.
Compare the indicator
Compare the reaction fields with the result diagram for your test. Follow its specified reading window. If the indicator is concerning or unclear and you suspect spiking, stop drinking and seek support.

02 / Results & limitations
Put the result in context.
An unremarkable result
An unremarkable test cannot guarantee a safe drink. Rapid tests cover limited substances with variable accuracy. They cannot reliably rule out tampering. General NHS guidance on test limitations.
A concerning or unclear result
If you suspect spiking, stop drinking and seek support. Interpret a specific indicator using the instructions for your product version. An unclear result is not a reason to keep drinking.
Symptoms or uncertainty
A beverage test cannot diagnose a person. Seek medical help if you feel unwell, regardless of the test result.

Where can I find the exact instructions?
Use the instructions for your exact product version. If you do not have them, contact us for the matching original instructions. The product gallery includes a packaging image with application guidance. Separate, approved current instructions that resolve the differing amounts and reading times are not yet available here.
Is every drink suitable?
The pictured packaging warns of possible false results with red or milk-based drinks. Check your product instructions for suitable beverages. We cannot make a general claim that every drink is suitable.
Which substances does the test detect?
A substantiated answer requires documents for the specific product version, including the substances, concentrations and drinks tested. Our evidence and use page explains the current documentation status.
How should I store the test and when does it expire?
Follow the expiry date and storage conditions on your packaging and in the accompanying instructions. Different claims on other webpages do not replace that information.
