Start with an operating plan
Drink-test access is one part of a venue’s safety arrangements. Budget for staff time, training, signage, replenishment and a clear response when a guest needs help. Buying tests alone is not evidence that incidents, liability or insurance costs will fall.
Use a current supplier quote for the actual product and quantity. Confirm which taxes, shipping charges and replacement costs apply. This article does not publish a universal wholesale price or a promised return on investment.
Check the rule that applies to your venue
Source check: September 5, 2026. California’s Business and Professions Code section 25624 requires covered Type 48 licensees to offer drink-testing devices and display a notice. The current text includes drink lids in that notice and retains a scheduled repeal on January 1, 2027. Review the current statute and other applicable requirements before relying on an older checklist.
The City of Tempe’s current program information says its requirements apply from August 1, 2026 to establishments with a Series 6 or Series 12 licence that serve alcohol between midnight and 2 a.m. on more than three days a month. That date has passed. Consult the city’s program for the applicable stock, signage and reporting requirements.
These are jurisdiction-specific requirements, not a nationwide rule. Neither source establishes that a particular DrinkCheck product meets every requirement. Ask for the relevant original product documents and confirm suitability for your venue with the responsible authority or adviser.
Build a budget from your actual operation
| Budget item | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Tests | Product version, current quote, quantities and expiry |
| Staff time | Where tests are kept, who assists guests and who checks stock |
| Information | Current local signage and access requirements |
| Incident response | Who gets medical help and supports a guest reporting a concern |
| Replenishment | Usage, expired stock and the actual delivery arrangements |
Keep purchase records, staff training records and a stock log. Ask your insurer directly how your arrangements affect your policy. Do not budget for a premium reduction or assume that offering tests provides a legal defence.
Review the evidence before selecting a product
Our evidence and use overview lists the original laboratory and instruction documents that are not yet available for publication. It explains why an unremarkable drink-test result cannot establish that a suspicious drink is safe. When a guest may need help, use your incident response process instead of waiting for a test result.
For an actual supply quote, contact DrinkCheck wholesale. Assess that quote alongside the product documents and the requirements that apply to your business.
Editorial correction, September 5, 2026: This revision removes unsupported wholesale price ranges, litigation-cost estimates, financial-benefit claims and clinical-validation/compliance claims. It also corrects the future wording around Tempe’s August 1 date. Checking the linked sources does not constitute a completed professional legal or medical review.
